The other night, we were really excited to have some of our friends over to watch War Room and enjoy some good snacks together. We had all already seen the movie while it was in theaters, but didn’t mind seeing it again because of how good it was! Jacob and I saw it on a date night soon after it came to theaters and we just loved how positive and inspiring it was. The storyline kept us interested and it encouraged all people, even those that aren’t married, to be more positive and seek a healthier prayer life. It was nice to enjoy a movie that left us feeling encouraged and I think it reminded both of us to focus on what matters most and pray for each other fervently.
As I pulled everything together for our movie night, I made little 5×7 cards to use as a bunting above our table (you can view and download the cards here if you’d like to use them) and bought the little hearts to add some color. Each of the cards are quotes from the movie or verses that were directly referenced throughout the movie! I had fun remembering some of my favorite moments from the movie in order to make the printables, both the things that made me laugh and the reminders that I needed to hear! Then for the table I just used a simple white tablecloth on the bottom with a red tablecloth and lace overlay on top as a runner! Since the movie focuses around love and encouragement, I kept the color scheme to red, pink, and black (which would be perfect for a Valentine’s Day date night in)!
Every movie night needs some yummy snacks, so we got what we needed at Walmart and popped some Orville Redenbacher Movie Theater popcorn (it was really nice that it popped in little bowls that each couple could share). I also made some chocolate chip cookie cups (recipe below) and put a few bottles of Coca-Cola in an adorable crate that I had along with lemonade for those that didn’t want soda! Everything came together really well and we were able to enjoy everything with our movie after eating some pizza! It was such a fun night catching up and we all agreed that War Room was just as good the second time around!
Chocolate chip cookie cups
1 tub of whipped topping (16 oz.)
1 regular pack of chocolate chip cookies
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup of M&M’S® Chocolate Candies
Set the cups you are using and then pour your milk into a shallow bowl. Dip the cookies completely in the milk and begin layering them in with the whipped topping! Fill your cup and then top with the crushed M&M’S®! I also make this in a 9x13in pan and it’s great for taking to parties! Yields about 8 small cups as pictured!
